Chinese flagship smartphones recently debuted massive batteries exceeding 6000mAh, but the race for higher capacity isn’t slowing down. Reliable insider Digital Chat Station claims that by next year, smartphones will surpass the 8000mAh milestone. The first contender might be the realme GT 8 Pro, as the company is reportedly testing batteries with increased capacity.
According to Digital Chat Station, realme is considering three battery and charging configurations:
- 7000mAh / 120W: Full charge in 42 minutes
- 7500mAh / 100W: Full charge in 55 minutes
- 8000mAh / 80W: Full charge in 70 minutes
While the charging times are longer for larger batteries, they remain competitive. Most users charge their phones overnight, making this drawback negligible. Additionally, with an 8000mAh battery, users would need to work hard to drain it entirely in a single day, leaving a healthy reserve by bedtime.
Potential Downsides:
- Weight and Thickness: Larger batteries could make smartphones bulkier, potentially impacting ergonomics.
- Heat Management: High-capacity batteries paired with fast charging could strain cooling systems.
- Longevity Concerns: Frequent fast charging might reduce the battery’s lifespan over time.
Despite these challenges, an 8000mAh battery could redefine expectations for smartphone endurance, especially for power users.
